ESX, Inc. Ranks as the Number 10 Company on The Houston 100
ESX, Inc. showed a 1076 percent growth in sales from 1999 to 2001. The Houston 100 profiles Houston's fastest-growing businesses based on sales over a three-year period. It is an annual program of the University of Houston Small Business Development Center and is underwritten by Southwestern Bell, the Greater Houston Partnership, and the Houston Business Journal."ESX, Inc. is very proud to be honored as a Houston 100 company," says Les Schlain, president and CEO. "Over the last three years, the company has had many hurdles to overcome, and receiving this award provides us with some public recognition that we have done a good job."
Founded in 1995 by Schlain, Steve Spar and Mark Conroy, ESX, Inc. has its roots in biomedical engineering. Originally, ESX, Inc.'s staff consisted of the core technical team of a biomedical venture backed company that Schlain and Spar founded while working towards their Masters degrees in biomedical engineering at Texas A&M University.
Over the last year, the company has successfully introduced its xCatalyst Platform. The xCatalyst Platform is an integrated web environment that enables organizations and companies to create, deploy and manage data-driven websites. "Our xCatalyst Platform addresses the needs of many organizations that are looking at their second-generation website operations. There is a genuine need for these organizations to lower costs and streamline web operations by distributing management of their web operations to personnel in the business units that create the information and distribute information" says Dan Rogas, vice president of sales and marketing. "xCatalyst gives mid-sized organizations a sophisticated solution that eliminates bottlenecks and provides true savings to organizations that adopt it." As an application service provider, ESX, Inc. has concentrated on universities and non-profits such as the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management, Rice University's School of Continuing Education, and the Texas Coastal Conservation Association.
