Quick heads-up for anyone who owns a mobile app: put December 31 on your calendar.
Apple has updated the App Store age rating system (more granular age bands) and added new required age rating questions in App Store Connect. If you have not reviewed your apps under the updated system yet, do it now so you are not dealing with it mid-release cycle
Also worth noting for US distribution: Texas SB2420 goes into effect January 1, 2026. Under this law, changing an app’s age rating for apps distributed in Texas can be considered a significant change. If you update your age rating after January 1, you may need to trigger the significant change consent process.
If you ship iOS or Android apps, treat this as a simple year-end checklist item:
- Review and update age rating details in App Store Connect
- Review the equivalent age/content settings in Google Play Console
